The 2-week build guarantee applies to the construction phase — from the day our team breaks ground to the day we hand over your completed structure. Permits and council approvals are managed in the phase before construction begins, so by the time the clock starts, all red tape is already handled. If we don't finish the build within 14 days of breaking ground, we pay you $5,000 cash back. No fine print. No exceptions.
Will composite decking get too hot to walk on barefoot in a Melbourne summer?
Quality composite decking runs significantly cooler underfoot than traditional timber — and dramatically cooler than some cheaper alternatives. We specify premium composite boards with heat-dispersing technology that keeps surface temperatures comfortable even on the hottest Victorian days. Combined with our insulated roofing system — which reduces overhead heat transfer by up to 50% — your outdoor space stays genuinely usable year-round, not just on mild days.
Can you build in bushfire attack level (BAL) rated zones?
Yes — we design and build outdoor structures in BAL-rated areas across Victoria. Construction in bushfire zones requires specific materials, design details, and engineering certification that meet the requirements of AS 3959. We assess your property's BAL rating during the site consultation and design your structure accordingly — using compliant steel, decking, and roofing materials rated for your specific zone. Can you build custom shapes — L-shapes, wraparounds, or irregular footprints?
Absolutely — custom shapes are what we do. Our steel-framing capability means we're not limited to simple rectangular footprints the way kit solutions are. L-shaped patios, wraparound verandas, structures that follow an irregular boundary or work around existing trees, pools, or outbuildings — we design and engineer these as precision custom builds. Every project starts with an accurate site measurement so the design works with your specific space, not against it.
Why do you build with Steel instead of Aluminium?
Steel gives us structural capability that aluminium simply can't match at an architectural scale. High-tensile Australian steel, BlueScope and Stratco — allows us to achieve wider spans with fewer posts, creating the open, unobstructed outdoor spaces our clients want. Aluminium is fine for smaller kit patios, but when you're engineering a structure designed to handle Melbourne's storm loads, integrate with your home's roofline, and last decades without compromise, steel is the only material that does the job properly.
How long does composite decking actually last — and what does maintenance look like?
Premium composite decking carries a 25-year structural warranty and is designed to maintain its appearance for the life of that warranty — with no painting, no oiling, no staining, and no sealing required. Unlike timber, composite won't rot, splinter, warp, or fade. Maintenance is limited to an occasional rinse with a hose or a sweep with a deck brush. It's the last decking surface most of our clients ever install.
Can you work around an existing structure, pool, or garden feature?
Yes — and we do it regularly. Designing around pools, retaining walls, existing paving, mature trees, garden beds, and other structures is part of the custom design process. We take precise measurements during the site consultation and engineer the structure to integrate with what's already there — rather than asking you to remove or modify things you want to keep. If there's a constraint on your site, we'll design around it.
What happens with council inspections — do I need to be involved?
We handle the entire council and permit process on your behalf — lodging applications, liaising with your local council, providing engineering documentation, and scheduling any required inspections. You don't need to manage any of it. We keep you informed at each stage and let you know when approvals are granted so we can lock in your build start date. Our clients regularly tell us the permit process was the part of the project they were most dreading — and the part they ended up having to think about least.
Is there a deposit required — and what does the payment structure look like?
Yes — we require a deposit to secure your build slot and commence the design and permit process. The exact payment structure is outlined in your contract and broken into clear milestones aligned to the project phases — design confirmation, permit approval, build commencement, and final handover. There are no surprise invoices and no requests for payment outside the agreed schedule. Everything is documented in writing before any work begins.
